an 8mm camcorder hooked up to my ATI-TV card in the PC. Its not
too clear, but it shows my baby in a really neat setting. I had
stayed overnight in her unexpectedly when it took longer to get
to the Island than I had thought. Thank goodness there were some
nice boater folks there who took pity on me and offered me an
invitation to dine with them on their boat!
They even called my wife when they got home to tell her I was staying overnight on the island. The Dacron sails have a pretty low R Factor. The heat lost from my body that night was rapid and unforgiving. Thank god for the camps, and fireplaces. I wouldn't however, trade the experience for anything! It rained, I was dry in the cabin. The moon was full, and the fog lifting on the lake at 6:00am was stunning. It rose slowly above the hills, and let in the sunshine! It was my third really big adventure in the Victoria. You know, it's kind of neat to just get away, with a radio, and just what you need to get by for a day or two. When your dependent on your ship for sleeping, protection from weather, and for transportation, it really inserts a unique overlay to sailing. I would suggest that everyone give it a shot at least once just to experience it!
