Victoria Yachts Online is developing its community as more folks come aboard, and more information is brought to light about McVay boat building.

We, as a group, have worked together to design a Burgee that fits with the history of the Victoria 18 and McVay Yachts. The voting was held during the month of April, 2001. The Burgee of Choice was design number 9.

This flag is the Official Design of the Online Victoria Yacht Community. It was offered to the community for ordering at discounted group rates for a limited time (from May 21,2001 to June 21,2001). At that time, the Burgees were manufactured for each member who placed their order with Beaver Flags.

The Burgee's are still available via Beaver Flags, although the "Group" run savings are not available for single orders of less than 12 Burgees. If you would like to order a Victoria/McVay Burgee you may do so via Beaver Flags (see info below). The cost is currently $52.50 per Flag with a lead time of 2-4 weeks.

The special arrangement of colors and components incorporates the flag of Nova Scotia (Blue Cross), with the flag of Florida (Red Cross), and the Official Victoria Logo for all the sails manufactured as OEM for Victoria Yachts and the Sailboat Works.

We appreciate the input from many of the folks at the last VicFest on the layout and style of the Burgee. Special thanks to Cas Ziezio for his input and ideas on combining the history of the McVay's from Nova Scotia to Florida with the use of the flags from each geographic location.

The flag maintains the historical image of McVay boats and gives all of us a Burgee that sports our respect for the contributions of their builders.

Windows 98 and above users: You can download a copy of this BMP image for your screen saver by clicking with your mouse on the BMP image below (NOTE: Only the image below will work for your screen saver. Other flag images on the site are not in BMP format)

After clicking, select "Save this File to Disk", Click "OK", then browse to any folder you want to save the BMP image to.

Once saved, minimize your browser;

Right click on your desktop, select "Properties"

Select "Screen Saver", and in the drop down under Screen Saver find and select "3D Flying Objects"

Click on the "Settings" button next to "3D Flying Objects"

Next to "Styles", find and select "Textured Flag"

Under the "Cancel" button, locate and click the "Texture" button. Navigate to the folder where you stored the BMP image of the Burgee and double click on the file VYBurgee.bmp.

When the"3D Flying Objects Setup" window returns, select "OK". The flag should appear in the demonstration box. If it does, then you must save the settings by finding and clicking on the "Apply" button. If you do not make this final step, the optional VYO Burgee will not be saved as your default screen saver.

You can also make additional adjustments to the size of the flag, and the resolution of the image via the "Settings" option.
