Victoria Yachts Online is a compendium of resources to support the ever growing interest in McVay Yachts, Victoria Yachts, and in general McVay boat building through the 1950's to the 1980's. We are not affiliated with Victoria Yachts Ltd., builders of sailboats in the UK. (Victoria Yachts Ltd.)

How long has VYO been available? The ever increasing popularity of these fine sailing craft have led to the creation of this online support community. The "community" effort has taken place since 1997 and has resulted in numerous sites and an eclectic mix of input. Historical and Technical information has been offered from owners (past and present), OEM equipment suppliers, folks who helped manufacture the boats and employees. Additional Historical information has come from the family and friends of the late George William McVay and George William McVay II.

How is VYO maintained? Victoriayachts.com is a privately held Domain name on the Internet. The Domain name is renewed periodically. The domain "victoriayachts.com" is hosted professionally for VYO by Hawk Communications. The web site is maintained by Lighthouse Web Systems, Inc.

What about Naming conventions? Some may ask why we named the site victoriayachts.com. The answer is that of all the McVay family built boats manufactured, the most successful by far is the Victoria 18. With unit sails estimated into the thousands, it out sold the McVay Yachts Bluenose and Falcon which were the largest selling boats in the McVay Yachts fleet. The Victoria sold in every state in the US except Alaska and Hawaii, (There may even yet be some discovered there!) .More people know of the Victoria 18 than just about any other McVay family built boat . . . period. That is the opportunity, to reach the largest possible group on the web, then build on a strong foundation of community input, technical information, and historical content.

• Victoria Forum- The forum is hosted by Delphi Forums. Registering on this site makes you a member of Victoria Yachts Online !, and allows full access to placing and reading messages on the Forum. You may also join as a "Guest" until your comfortable with the Forum and its content. As a guest you have access to all of the wealth of information available in the forum but you cannot post your own message. This is a Free service there are no charges to maintain or use the service to either guests, members, or to VYO. It has very little or no maintenance and has so far served VYO Members extremely well. You can ask questions via a message you post, and offer input on other folks questions. Additionally there is online chatting available via chat rooms. Currently there is no available option for saving or storing locally the information contained on the forum. At some time this may be an added option to the service.
  
  
• Victoria Website- This Web Site is Hosted by Geocities.com. This is the Official McVay website featuring a large amount of information pertaining to Historical, Manufacturing, Models, Maintenance, Retrofitting, and just about any other tidbit of data that you may want to review before heading to the Forum to ask specific questions. This is a Free service there are no charges to maintain or use the service to either guests, members, or to VYO. The site is also available on CDROM. The site covers the entire line of Victoria Yachts, and is increasing its coverage of the line of McVay Yachts from Canada and Nova Scotia.
  
  
• J Wrenn's Site- Jerry Wrenn was the first person to have a site up on the Internet featuring the Vic 18. He has, in the last 4 years brought more information to more folks via personal conversation and web based feedback than any other VYO Member. He is the owner of a Vic 18.
  
  
• Register Your McVay- Fill out this quick and easy form to register your McVay Yacht or Victoria Yacht online. The information we display is not personal other than State and email address, and you only need to supply enough information to help us get acquainted with you and your boat. You DO NOT HAVE TO CURRENTLY OWN A McVay built boat to register. We only require that you have previously owned one, and have the VYN number or the serial number from your previously owned boat.
  
  
• Registry Listing- This is the actual listing of the data retrieved from the Registry process. In the future we are going to sport a clean and fun interface to the data. The new listing will be able to be queried in a variety of ways. List it by Manufacture, Year, Serial number, State, and possibly rigging and types of repairs. We may even be able to offer a map version which allows the user to see boats by clicking on a state.

No Computer Tracking of Identifiable Information
The site is not set up to track, collect or distribute personal information about its visitors. It does recognize the home server of visitors, but not email addresses. For example, the site can tell which Internet Service Provider the visitors use, but not the names, addresses or other information about the visitors that would allow it to identify the particular visitors to the site. This information is used only for internal purposes by the technical support staff.

In addition, the website tracks information about the visits to it. For example, the site compiles statistics that show the daily number of visitors to it, the daily requests received for particular files on the website, and what countries those requests come from. These aggregated statistics are used internally to better provide services to the public and may also be provided to others, but again, the statistics contain no personal information and cannot be used to gather such information.
