I have had my Victoria since June '97 and had been searching for general information on Victoria sailboats for the past two years to no avail.

The other night I tried again using www.dogpile.com. Somewhere in my search, I ended up in a web page in England (related to Queen Victoria, I think) and, from there, I somehow got to the Forum page?

Imagine my surprise and excitement when I learned I did not own the only Vic 18 in the world. The only information I had ever learned was from an e-mail response from someone who thought the company had gone out of business, the "molds" had been sold and no one knew who had them or if any boats were still being built. How depressing! Such a beautiful boat and no "sisters".

I purchased my Victoria from a broker in Nisswa, MN who sells boats on a consignment basis and I never met the owner. It was displayed on the roadside and, when I saw her, it was love at first sight. I left my Compac 16 with the broker and took Victoria to our cabin on Lake Ada, nine miles north of Pine River, MN.

I have the good fortune of spending my summers with my family in Minnesota and the other nine months of the year at our home in Austin, TX. The boat doubles as our "U-Haul", with no disrespect to her, on the trip up and back, and my folly while at the lake.

I am going to contact the previous owner and learn what he knows about the boat's past. How did it get to Minnesota? Could it have been one of the boats used to "payoff investors"? It will be interesting to learn what he knows.
