If you have an idea, or can supply a large water marker for the Race.

Wanted! Items for the VicChest!

Folks attending or not, you can be a part of the history! Remember to bring small trinkets or something to place into the VicChest. Keep it small, Pictures, wine corks with your name and your boats name, and the year you put it in the chest. Bring a trinket carved with you and your boats name engraved on it. An old necklace or chain, a good luck charm, Bring a Picture, or Pictures from any previous VicFest. Hey, . . . its tradition!

If you cannot make it to the fest this year but would still like to include something in the VicChest, mail it to:

DO IT SOON as the cutoff will be Monday September 13h. Any items received after that time will be held by the next years Hosts and placed into the VicChest at the next opening. . . . VicFest 2005!

Remember, try to bring items that you can associate with your boat or yourself, or better yet, . . . with both!
If it has your name on it, or attached to it via a string that's good too!
Keep it small, the chest is only 12" deep x15" long x 10" high
(Even though its relatively small, Memories don't take up too much space, and the VicChest is BIG enough for all of them!)

Please update the Forum Thread on VicFest 2004 Attendance with your registration information as you verify that you will be attending. Information is posted as to the location and accommodations here at VicFEST 2004

When adding your registration message, please leave additional information to help us better manage your arrival at the Fest.

1- Expected arrival Time and Date
2- Number in your Party
3- If you will be Trailering or Sailing a Vic 18 or other boat to the Fest
4- Any accommodations you may need or have arranged. (Including Slip rental at $30.90 min. per night at Rock Hall Landing)
5- How long you will be staying at the Fest .
6- Any additional questions or comments you may have.

9:00 AM VicFest Rum Toast / VicChest Opening

VicChest
We start Saturday with the 3rd Annual Opening of the VicChest! Who can remember what s in the chest from last year ? You will find out!
The Chest is opened only for the Duration of the VicFest, and is not opened until the next years Fest. You only have a few day's to see what's inside, and add your own piece of history to the contents.

Toast!
We begin the Fest with the 3rd annual toast to the Official start of this Years Fest.
A toast is then held for the journey our boats have made with us to the Fest.
We follow this by a toast to the safety and fun of each of the members during the Fest.
We then offer up a toast to the designers and builders of our boats.
Finally, if there is any rum left in the cask, and there is anyone left standing, that person gives a personal toast which actually begins the Fest activities!

This year we will try to record the audio for the toast and place it on the VicFest 2004 web site for all to hear along with photos! . . . stay tuned.

9:30 AM VicFest Boat Christening

Don't miss the 5th annual "Christening" of the start of the VicFest! Each boat is christened by it's captain (or assigned crew member), with a full shot of Captain Morgan's Rum across the Bow. (Some think this is a total waste of Rum, but you should see how the fish react!). The christening of each boat is preceded by the "Captains" toast to his boat for safety, luck, and downright fun for the duration of the Fest, and the remainder of the season.!

Hopefully we can record each captains christening of their boat via audio and pictures and place them on the VicFest 2004 Web Site. . . stay tuned.

11:00 PM Sail to Picnic Lunch / Beach /Raft up ?

2:00 PM The fifth Annual "Rum Cup"

This is the 5th annual running of McVay/Victoria Yachts "RumCUP". Don't be mistaken, this is a grueling 2 hour no holds barred race to the finish line, (which may occasionally change based on who is in the lead position). Remember, only the most fit and experienced Victoria owners should contemplate this challenging and un-nerving race. Although difficult, the rewards are well worth the challenge. The coveted "Rum Cup" is the actual Rum bottle to be used for the christening of our boats during the first annual VicFest in 1999. The holder of this coveted award is looked upon by all as the most fit and seasoned McVay /Victoria Owner . . .BAR NONE.

Remember, the real challenge is keeping the Cup once you have won it!

8:00 PM Awards Ceremony/Dinner (At the Condo)

Presentation of the "Rum Cup" followed by presentation of various awards for achievement and recognition for 2004!
If you win an award, you will be notified by the VicFest Host Committee. Recognition will be voted on and awarded for a number of items including the most forum posts for the year, the most challenging Modification or Repair, the most productive and helpful forum member, the VicFest attendee traveling the farthest for the VicFest, and a number of other categories including "Best Attending Vic", "Most Modifications", and "Most original Modification", the "Best Sail" of the season, and the "Most Challenging Sail" of the season.

In all there will be about 10 awards PLUS the presentation of the Rum CUP!

9:00 PM 3rd Annual "Midnight" Cruise
Set your sails for this enjoyable and fascinating cruise up the Chesapeake by moonlit sky!
Keep an eye on those Buoy's, and navigate by the stars.
An enjoyable 2 hour jaunt to the "Tower" and back just north of Rock Hall.
(As a heads up, for those of you sleeping on your boats, remember . . .you may be required to give up your bed for the duration of the midnight sail).

8:00 Open Breakfast

9:00 AM Sail to Local Historical or Open Sailing

1:00 PM Group Lunch at Dockside Restaurant
Those wishing to get together for one last Hooray! (and one table of Crabs!).
We will officially "Close" the VicChest until next year!
Official Closing ceremony for VicFest.

5:00 PM Checkout
(For the weak, the weary, the land lovers, and those generally considered as "afraid of the dark" types)

MON: SEPT 21st

9:00 AM Open Sailing
Remember, just sleeping overnight on Sunday night does not automatically relegate one to the "Hard Core Victoria 18 Sailing Enthusiasts" league.
You must stay for the day and actually sail your boat!

4:00 PM Late Checkout
(Late checkout is only for hard core Victoria 18 Sailing Enthusiasts who love the water and are NOT "afraid of the Dark" types example: : NOT Wimps!)

Rock Hall is a quaint town with lots of places to explore for non-boating
folks and boaters alike.

There is a free town trolley that makes a circuit of the town, and is very
convenient for getting around town.

WEST Marine in town about 300 yards from the Marina! . . . . . Hooray!

LAUNCHING YOUR BOAT:
There is a ramp by the Sailing Emporium. As you come into Rock Hall on Rte 20, you pass Toy's Outdoor Store on the right. STOP there and get a 3-day county ramp pass for $10.00, and ask for directions to Sailing Emporium (or check their web site on the Rock Hall home page). Trailers can be stored in the field behind Rock Hall Landing Marina.

Please make arrangements with Jim and Mary Anne ASAP. They are currently expecting up to 10 VIC 18 boats. We need to let them know early if we need room for more.

Jim at Rock Hall Landing Marina plans to line up our boats on the side and end of A dock just like last year.This year however, it will look much better as we will be displaying our great new Burgee on all the boats!

Remember, Docks at the marina are floating. This is great for the low freeboard on our Vics.

LAUNCHING YOUR BOAT:
There is a ramp by the Sailing Emporium. As you come into Rock Hall on Rte 20, you pass Toy's Outdoor Store on the right. Stop there and get a 3-day county ramp pass for $10.00. Trailers can be stored in the field behind Rock Hall Landing Marina

LODGING:
Lodging: Lodging is LIMITED in Rock Hall, and most is expensive, so make reservations EARLY.

On your boat
At the Mariner's Motel (410-639-2291)--reasonable and very close--only one room left!!!
At the Marina in a villa/townhouse/house (2-3 bedrooms/2 baths--sleep 4-6 adults, $195/night/building)--share one with a couple of VicFest
attendees. Call the Mariner's motel and talk to Roberta. There are 2
villas, one townhouse, and one house.
At any one of several B&Bs in the area (more pricey, but VERY scenic)

(another reason to make plans soon)
SATURDAY AM: Group Breakfast (Where is Carpline!)
