Rain ...
Rain all night Friday ....
Rain all morning Saturday ...
The annual RumToast/Christening and RumCup have been placed on hold until Sunday for better weather.
Breakfast and lunch was soothing during the rain. The VicChest was opened, and we enjoyed conversation about the weather, our Vic's, and the good times we have had at the Fest in years past.
At about 2:00pm the weather cleared a bit (no rain but heavy wind and gusts.
Mark and William decide to brave the wind and wave and head out for a sail.
They came back in a bit shaken but ready to tell of their story.
"There was not a tool on that boat that we didn't use today" said Mark Hanna after removing his life vest.
Their boat took some serious wind and wave on their 2 hour excursion out on the bay.
"I wouldn't trade the experience" said William McVay.
Between the two seasoned sailors, they found that they had to use much of their experience to manage the boat during the afternoon sail.
"I don't need it" replied Cas when someone asked if he were going out. Cas has been there and done that. Fighting the Chesapeake was not on his itinerary for the VicFest this year.

RumCup
In lieu of the rain and difficult conditions, the RumCup was awarded
to Patience.
The RumCup will still be run on Sunday, for Second and Third Place.
If Patience takes either 2nd or 3rd place in the re-run of the RumCup, the third or fourth place boat will be given the award.

Awards Discussion
Comments were made on the manner in which the VicForum awards are created and voted on at the VicFest.
Through discussions, boat owners have decided on the following procedures:
Vic Owners need not be present at the VicFest in order to be voted for or receive an award from the Forum. The VicFest is a single activity of the forum, and NOT the sole means of generating feedback and offering recognition to the community.
It was decided that 90 days before VicFest an online vote would be commissioned to determine any special awards to be presented for the current year(along with the Standard awards).
60 Days before the VicFest, an online recommendation for recipients of the awards would be nominated in an open forum thread. Nominations will be taken (one for each award for each Boat owner supplying a Valid VYN number and registration on the site.)
30 days before the Fest, an online vote would be taken, 1 vote for each Award will be taken from each Victoria boat owner supplying a valid VYN number and registration on the Victoria Forum Web site. The voting will take place via email, and will be open for voting for 2 weeks.
The tallied votes will remain sealed until the awards are presented at the next VicFest.
All Award nominated recipients will need to supply a valid address (if not previously submitted) in advance of the voting process or their names will be dropped from all awards.
VicFest 2005
Discussions on the next location for VicFest 2005. North/South
Carolina was discussed, along with Savanna.
William and Tracy felt that if it were close to them they may be able to manage
it.
It was generally felt that something a bit further south would bring more folks in from the south as the drive would not be so long. In addition, there are a number of members of the forum in the mid atlantic states that have expressed interest in holding a VicFest further south.
William and Tracy will look into a North Carolina or South Carolina location.
It was also discussed of the possibility of holding the Fest in Virginia Beach. It is the Home town of Bill and Jane Cole.
The discussion was shelved until we heard more from William and Tracy on their local search for a spot to host VicFest 2005.
