- The Victoria 17 is a unique and special
boat manufactured by the Sailboat Works of Florida. We
are not sure yet whether these boats were manufactured before,
or after the 18, but we will determine and post as soon as we
are sure.
-
- It looks like the Victoria 17 may
have been set up in two models. The first is the "Classic"
model with the round ports as shown below. It could have been
that the Sailboat Works decided to manufacture 2 different
versions as they did the Victoria 18 Standard Sloop, and
Victoria 18 Cutter versions.
- Note the "V" in the sail,
every bit a Victoria !
- Also note the non-anodized mast and
Boom, and hey, the trailer looks familiar!
-
-
- The second type or generation is
of the standard design. Here you can see the similarities to
the Victoria 18.
-
- It looks as if the hull is every
bit an 18 minus the section of the stern aft of the cockpit.
-
- It sure is a beautiful boat. It sports
well both the classic lines of the Vic 18, and the more modern
and functional stern/transom mounted rudder.

- Questions?
-
- Why
build the Victoria 17? (Read Kemp Howland's
Reply)
- How does the relocation of the
rudder impact the CG of the boat?
- Was the mast step relocated?
- How does it impact the tracking,
or the handling?
- Was the deletion of the Bow Pulpit
Standard on all the 17's?
- Was there any change in the hull
other than the Rudder relocation?
- Was there any modifications made
to the deck other than hardware deletion or relocation?
- Is the cockpit smaller?
- Is the Cabin modified from
the 18 other than the formed inner liner which is found on the
'81 and above Victoria 18 model years?
- Does the Vic 17 carry the same Sail
plan as the Victoria 18 (Sail Area and Genoa)?
