- The 4 known ships designed or manufactured
by the McVay's from the 40's to the 80's have been varied and
interesting.
-
- (We list 5 different ships below,
although the Victoria 17 is every bit a Victoria, its ultimate
design Retrofit and Manufacture was external to
the McVay design and manufacturing process. We include it with
the other McVay Yachts because it is indeed a ship designed with
the base hull and other concepts originally used by the McVays.
It was manufactured by the Sailboat Works, as was the
Victoria line, after the Victoria was discontinued in 1983. It
was built using the same molds and construction process used
on the Victoria line of yachts and we are sure it contains the
same detail of craftsmanship and quality.)
-
- We will try to break down each of
the ships, and detail as much as possible, with photo's and possibly
some design concepts. We would like to detail how these concepts
translated to the sailing characteristics of each one of the
boats. For this we will need your help. Remember, we are continuing
to expand, and are getting input from a number of folks out there.
If you spot any of these boats, and have a chance to discuss
their handling characteristics or general historical detail with
their owners please submit your findings here for posting on
the Forum Website. We need your input to continue moving forward
with the history of the McVay designed Yachts.
-
- As an example, on July 28, 1999 Melissa
Coley of the Forum found the first Victoria 17 to be reported
to the Forum. She is currently in the process of gathering some
data, and talking with the owners to help set them up as members
of the Forum. This kind of input is extremely useful in developing
leads to further support the forums historical endeavors.
