The Following E-Mail was sent to the Forum via the Web Site on Wed 7/21/99 9:50 AM.

After further communication, Paul offered to submit a number of pieces of visual documentation in his possession for the use of the Forum. As a dealer, it looks like Paul was very active in both the sales of Victoria 18's, and in helping to support her user base during the 80's. We welcome Paul Leon Gipson to the Forum, and thank him for both his current offerings for the historical account of the Victoria 18, and for the early work in support of the Victoria 18.

Paul brings to the Forum a precious blend of both personal and business experience relating to the Victoria 18, and will be a wonderful resource for both rebuilding the history of the McVay built ships, and helping to support the current online Victoria 18 Community.

Welcome Paul, and We are glad to have you on board with us!

I was a dealer for Victoria Yachts back in the early '80s and sold a number of Vics to very happy sailors. I spent quite a bit of time in Florida visiting the factory and attended several Annapolis boat shows with Bill McVay.

In the mid 80's I attempted to track down owners to start a Victoria 18 Owners Association. I am really happy to see that the web and special people have created a repository for such a great little boat. Some may not know that after Bill left the company, Jerry Van Gundy took over along with Ed Cruit.

If you are interested I have many photos relating to the construction of the Victoria 18, some photos of the Vic 17 and cutter as well as the Vic 25/26 (interior/exterior). Also, I have in my possession the majority of the returned warranty cards with names, hull ID's, etc and other bits of Vic history.

Paul has already offered many pieces of data to the Forum, mostly photos, and misc. information about the Victoria 17, some photos of the 26, and some historical data. The information is posted in a number of locations throughout the site. Many of the photos are located in the "Design" section from the main index menu of the site.
