Cas, Claudia, Mary Beth and myself had an uneventful trip
to Rock Hall yesterday (Thursday).Cas was towing "Arabella",
and we were towing "A Wind Song". Great trip, a little
wet in spots but ok. We left at 10:00am and arrived at Nancy and
Peters place at about 5:00pm. Remember the promise, "There
will be burgers on the grill when you get here" yah,
well phat chance of that. Seems that the surprise was on us. NOT
only were there NO burgers on the grill, but there was
no Grill, NO Peter, NO Nancy, and to boot, after one flush
there was no more water at their house. (NONE!)
Not for nothing, but as far as hospitality goes, if your invited to these folks place in the future come equipped with EVERYTHING YOU NEED.
We all got in our cars and LEFT for Rock Hall where we thought we would find some action at the NEW West Marine. Mary and I wanted to get the boat launched right away to free up more space on the dock for Friday's rush so we left West Marine for Rock Hall. Cas and Claudia felt bad about just skipping out on our "Only in your Dreams" hosts for the evening so they turned around and headed back to see if there was still no water at Nancy and Peters place.
Mary and I set up and launched "A Wind Song", and motored for the slips.
Everything was fine, we docked, and headed on over to the Mariner on foot to hitch ride back to the Boat Launch with our close friend and fellow compatriot Bill Cole and his wife Jane who were staying at the Mariner Motel. One thing about Bill and Jane Cole, you can trust that if these folks tell you they are going to be somewhere, they will be there PERIOD.
Well, except for this Thursday.
After a thorough search of the entire city of Rock Hall we realized that not only were Nancy and Peter AWOL, but so were Bill and Jane, and everyone else that we had any connection to. Rock Hall is a lonely place at Dinner time.
We did run into someone on the 3 mile walk back to the Launch
that had the guts to hang out with us for a while. Every one else
steered clear (I told Mary Beth that the new Tattoo on her forehead,
and the multiple piercing's that she just had done to her face
would probably not be welcomed in Rock Hall). Buoy was I right!
Well anyway, our temporary companions name was "Fred",
we believe he was homeless cause he followed us for about a mile
or so. He was a bit overweight so we ran to try to loose him.
It took us about a mile or so, with a couple of quick turns and
a shortcut through a park in the dark, but we did it!
I have never seen an overweight Beagle try to run so hard to keep up. I told Mary Beth that I hoped he didn't die of a heart attack because of us.
After what seemed like 4 hours we stopped on the side of the road to rest and ate some kind of peas or Beans or something that were growing in a field along side the road. Didn't know what they were, but Mary said they were food, and that was all that mattered. We must have cleaned out about an acre and a half of the pea things before the land owner came out with his shotgun and booted us off his land.
We continued our trek to the launch, and I mean NOBODY stopped to help us! I even had Mary lay down in the road once with her arms and legs all crooked like she was hurt, but everyone just passed, honked, and said "Oh, too bad, . . . you left your car at the boat launch and you have to walk ba a.a .ck!"
Those Rockies are pretty smart!
We got to the truck pooped and wet, minus our friend "Fred", and our tummies rumbling (probably from the bushels of those pea like things that we ate). Well that's about it for Thursday, We hit the sack. Friday Morning we told folks about the bad experience we had with those Pea like things. They all said they were Soy Beans. . .
